Survival horror game with a unique twist

DON'T SCREAM is a premium simulation game for PC developed by Digital Cybercherries. It's a first-person horror experience set in a dark and mysterious forest, wherein players must try to survive the night by any means necessary while avoiding vicious hunters lurking about and without making a sound.

Compared to other horror games like Visage or Fears to Fathom - Woodbury Getaway, DON'T SCREAM stands out with its distinct 90s camcorder footage perspective. It also employs a unique mechanic that allows it to listen to sound and noise through players' microphones, which affects the gameplay in various ways.

Don't make a sound

DON'T SCREAM takes inspiration from classic 90s camcorder found footage. In it, you find yourself lost inside a forest in the middle of the night with no one to turn to for help. However, you are not alone, with murderous hunters on the prowl searching for new prey. Thus, begins a long and deadly game of cat and mouse as you try to make it to morning alive.

The game requires you to play with a microphone on and this is where the twist comes in as you will need to avoid making any sound so you won't get heard by hunters. What's more, you will need to keep your camcorder alive by collecting batteries spread throughout the forest. No two gameplay will be exactly the same in DON'T SCREAM, making every run feel new and different.

As you navigate your way through the dangerous landscape, discover forgotten relics that contain stories that hint at what happened to others in the past. Now, despite its interesting concept and setting, the gameplay itself is very short. A full playthrough will only last anywhere under 30 minutes. There's only so much that it can offer even with procedural generation.

Not a peep

In conclusion, DON'T SCREAM is an interesting horror experience that fans of the genre will like with its unique mechanics, dark and atmospheric setting, and creepy gameplay. It is going to be a very short ride, though, unless you plan on diving in for multiple playthroughs and experiencing different scenarios. Nevertheless, it is worth checking out and judging for yourself.
